The first DCU film Superman: Legacy is set to begin filming next year and James Gunn and his team are already deep into pre-production ahead of its planned start. They have also announced the casting for some of the roles including for the other DC heroes that are also set to appear in the movie.

However, with the writers' and actors' strike that happened in Hollywood for the past six months, there have been some questions about whether it has affected its production plan for next year and its summer release in 2025.

Now, Gunn has finally chimed in and it looks like fans have nothing to worry about regarding a potential delay.

In his recent post on social media, Gunn thanked his crew who continued working on Superman: Legacy while the strike was happening. He also confirmed that the film is still on track for a summer 2025 release as originally planned.

"Thanks to the efforts of our talented crew, who never lost faith during the longest strikes in Hollywood history, and who never let their foot off the pedal, continuing to barrel forward, creating the most amazing character and set designs I’ve seen in my entire career, #SupermanLegacy will be making the originally planned release date of July 11, 2025," he wrote in his post.

This is definitely great news for fans since it eases down their concerns surrounding the project's delay and there is now an assurance that its release won't be affected at all despite everything that has happened.

It was reported last week that the film is currently set to begin production in March. Previous reports have said that it was planned to start in January, but that doesn't look to be the case anymore due to the strike-related delays and rescheduling.

Gunn also still has a lot of time to do more casting and rewrites of the film while he is still in pre-production. It is likely that we will be hearing more news in the coming weeks or months.

Superman: Legacy is slated for release in theaters on July 11, 2025.
