Earlier this summer, Blue Beetle arrived in theaters to middling box office results. While the critical reception was mostly positive, it unfortunately became the lowest-grossing DCEU film in history and it was considered to be a flop.

There are a lot of factors that are being blamed for its poor performance with one of them being the lack of a promotional campaign involving the stars as the actors' strike was already underway when it was released.

Fortunately, despite its disappointing box office results, the titular character is still set to be integrated into the new DCU franchise under James Gunn and Peter Safran with Xolo Maridueña reprising the role.

Now, with the actors' strike finally ended, the star of the film broke his silence for the first time to reflect on the beloved DCEU movie.

In his recent post on Instagram, Maridueña shared behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Blue Beetle and thanked the fans who supported the movie when it was released earlier this summer. He also reflected on his experience working on the film.

"Blue Beetle is sacred to me, from the family you see on screen to the ones I made off, this movie has tore me down and built me back up in ways I’ll never be able to articulate," he wrote in his caption.

"To celebrate this moment behind closed doors has been one of the most formative moments of my life but it helped me realize, there is no dollar sign, no tweet, no headline, that can quantify the feeling inside a child who sees their ancestry is heroic."

The actor continued, "This is for all of our inner child. Thank you for everyone who supported and showed out, the response has been overwhelmingly positive and there isn’t a week that passes by without thinking of the Blue Beetle Battalion!!"

While the film may have a disappointing box office performance, no one can deny its importance as the first Latino-led DC superhero movie and, as proved by the audience scores, a lot of fans enjoyed the film.

It's also endearing to see Maridueña celebrate the movie even though it's already been three months since its release and, even if it's delayed, nothing should stop him from celebrating an incredible milestone.

Now, it is exciting to see what Gunn's plans are for the hero when he appears in the DCU later on.

Blue Beetle is set to arrive on Max this November 17.
