James Gunn Reveals One Silly Thing About the Infinity Stones' Lore

Some fans will argue that James Gunn is a genius himself having to create Marvel’s The Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and DC’s The Suicide Squad.

But the filmmaker revealed something about writing the Infinity Stones’ lore that will make the fans admire him more or hate him for not maximizing his time in this important aspect.

In a recent interview with Phase Zero, Gunn shared that he didn’t put much effort into creating the backstory for each infinity stone.

"I wrote that scene in about an hour and a half, it just came up with what the Infinity Stones were... and everything's [the entire MCU's] based on that..." he said.

Gunn continued, “They were like, 'You know, we're thinking about putting the Power Stone in. I was like, 'That's cool. The Power Stone. The Collector has the Power Stone... And I just made up this bulls**t.”

Since it was introduced, The Infinity Stones have directed the MCU for many years, with the Space, Mind, Reality, Power, Time, and Soul Stones playing crucial roles in the plot.

The Infinity Saga revolved around Thanos' mission to acquire all the stones and wield the power of the Infinity Gauntlet - an integral concept that was created in just 90 minutes.

The Collector's explanation of the history of the Infinity Stones in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 was written swiftly yet served as the foundation for the franchise.

After knowing this information, MCU fans took to social media to give mixed reactions about the fact that Gunn didn’t put too much thought into creating the lore.

“It came out kind of disrespectful. The lore was already there so he didn't have to think hard about how to do it, besides, he's a scriptwriter and a director. He makes shit up for a living. It's the way he worded this that's rubbing me the wrong way.” wrote user @Adrian31788239.

Users @wdmorgan2 and @sf3when argued that it’s obvious that Gunn didn’t give out the effort, and now the current phases of the MCU are paying the price for it.

Meanwhile, others expressed their admiration for the director, calling him the greatest and unbothered by the fans’ reaction to this information.
