Thanks to his effectively terrifying role as Pennywise in the It films, Bill Skarsgard has become one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood and starred in several films across various genres such as action, horror, and fantasy/science-fiction.

For weeks, we've been hearing rumors that he is jumping ship to the new DCU franchise under James Gunn and Peter Safran although we never heard any confirmation about whether he is actually going to enter the rebooted superhero franchise.

Now, it looks like his move to the DCU might indeed happen and it sounds like we might see him play a beloved DC character.

In a recent episode of The Hot Mic podcast, reporter Jeff Sneider gave his two cents on Skarsgard's rumored DCU involvement where he shared that he also heard that the actor had a general meeting recently with DC Studios to discuss his potential casting.

He also revealed that the actor might be in talks to play the DCU's Swamp Thing instead of a role in The Brave and the Bold which is what the rumor mill around was claiming.

However, he also stressed that this might not end up being true as the Swamp Thing project is still in development and it is too early to cast an actor to play the role at this point.

James Mangold, who is attached to direct the film, is also busy at the moment as he is currently prepping for his Bob Dylan movie and is likely going to work on his Star Wars film first before segueing to Swamp Thing.

If Skarsgard ends up getting cast in the DCU film, it will be his third superhero movie role after his cameo in Deadpool 2 and the motion capture role of Kro in Eternals. He will also star in the reboot of The Crow, which is also a comic book adaptation.

This is an interesting rumor since it is inevitable at this point for Skarsgard to join a comic book franchise for a major role and, as we've seen in his past role as Pennywise, he is a fitting choice to play Swamp Thing.

While it might sound like typecast since it's a role that will require hours of makeup, it is not a villainous character unlike Pennywise and he could show his acting through his eyes which is also an expertise from him.

Since this is still in earlier stages, we won't be hearing another update about this anytime soon and it would be interesting to see whether this rumor ends up being true.
