DC Studios co-chairman James Gunn is currently busy on the pre-production of Superman: Legacy and one of his major tasks around this time is the casting of the DCU's Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and the other key characters.

For the past few weeks, we've been hearing a lot of rumors regarding the actors that are currently in contention to play Clark and Lois in the film and we're still far from any confirmation as the casting process is still ongoing.

Now, we have another update on the film's casting process and it looks like the frontrunners are now being doubled down as they move to another round.

A recent report from Deadline provided an interesting casting update on Superman: Legacy where they revealed that the project is moving forward to the second round of casting with first in-person tests that are set to take place around Father’s Day weekend or the Monday or Tuesday after.

David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult, and Tom Brittney are named as the actors who are expected to test for Clark Kent/Superman while Rachel Brosnahan, Emma Mackey, and Phoebe Dynevor will test for the role of Lois Lane.

There is the likelihood that more names will be added to the list as some of the test deals are still being negotiated and have not closed yet at this point.

While doing a promotional tour for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Gunn made a promise that he will be reviewing all audition tapes for the two roles and, for the past few weeks, he was able to come up with a list of the names that will move forward to the second round.

As for the casting of the other characters such as Jimmy Olsen and Lex Luthor, there is a likelihood that a decision will be made regarding them once they have secured the Superman and Lois roles.

This is certainly an exciting update regarding the DCU film's casting process as we are now inching closer to finding out who will be the new Superman and Lois in the rebooted franchise.

The next few weeks will be very crucial in the process and the actors are definitely going to showcase what they can to prove that Gunn should cast them to headline the highly-anticipated film. More updates should arrive in the coming weeks.
