The show may not be for everyone, but Girlfriend, Girlfriend is an anime that delighted harem fans back in 2021. Now, fans won’t need to wait much longer for its return as Girlfriend, Girlfriend Season 2 just confirmed its October release date.
Previously, it was revealed that Girlfriend, Girlfriend Season 2 will return in the Fall 23 season. But at the time, there was no specific release date yet.
The show finally revealed its premiere date, and this announcement also came with info about the show’s new opening and ending themes.
Girlfriend, Girlfriend Taps Popular Japanese Artists for Season 2 Themes
It’s still a bit over a month before the show’s premiere, but Girlfriend, Girlfriend Season 2 finally revealed its new opening and ending themes. Instead of bringing back the original artists, the show went with new singers.
For starters, the new opening theme is titled Dramatic ni Koi Shitai (or I Want to Fall in Love Dramatically in English) by Hikari Kodama, an actress who voices Chris in the Kizuna no Allele VTuber anime.
The new song hasn’t been released yet, but a short preview of it was included in the anime’s new commercial, which you can watch here:
Meanwhile, the show tapped popular Japanese music duo ClariS for the new ending theme titled Forira. Despite not being previewed yet, this ending should be exciting given that ClariS is a huge name in anime music.
The duo is perhaps best known for singing the opening theme of Madoka Magica. ClariS has also performed other themes for popular shows like Lycoris Recoil, the Monogatari series, and more.

Girlfriend, Girlfriend Season 2 Reveals October Release Date
Aside from going with new singers for its upcoming second season, Girlfriend, Girlfriend has also switched to a new anime studio for its continuation.
Tezuka Productions was the studio that animated the first season. The studio is best known for shows like My Home Hero, The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses, and The Dawn of the Witch.
For Season 2 though, SynergySP (of Too Cute Crisis and A Couple of Cuckoos fame) is taking over animation duties, complete with new staff members.
Despite the change in studio, the show’s voice cast members will return for Season 2, complete with new additions such as Aoi Koga (Kaguya Shinomiya in Kaguya-sama: Love Is War) as Risa Hoshizaki.
Girlfriend, Girlfriend Season 2 will be released on October 6, 2023. Currently, there’s no word yet on which platform the show will be streamed on outside Japan.
