Elizabeth Olsen Reacts To Adam Driver Playing MCU's Reed Richards

Marvel Studios fan favorite Elizabeth Olsen is one to spill and leak some hidden information about the MCU. Lizzie, as her fans call her, has dropped bombs about the franchise multiple times in the past, and everyone thanks her for her constant bravery and honesty.

Given her straightforwardness, Olsen has responded to any rumor about one of the most talked-about MCU castings right now, Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards. Sitting down with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actress reacted to Adam Driver’s taking the role.

Olsen was obviously confused about why there are rumors that Driver is in talks to play the role, just after John Krasinski portrayed the character in Doctor Strange 2. But podcast host Josh Horowitz clarified the situation and helped the actress understand it.

“What? But why did John do it? Oh, because of different multiverses? I understand now!” said Olsen. Horowitz then asked the actress if he thinks Driver would be on board to sign with Marvel given that the deal could be a contract for nine MCU movies. “How many kids does he have?” joked Olsen.

Krasinski played Mister Fantastic in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), but he also died in it. However, given the multiverse, the character could wind up again and again. But the actor said in December that he wasn’t in talks to return for the upcoming Fantastic Four.

“There aren't any discussions at all, the only discussion I had was actually in the second-to-last week of 'Jack Ryan,' I was honored to do it. I'm a big fan of all those characters and that world, so to get to play in that sandbox for one day was a real thrill.” said the actor.

The rumors of Driver assuming the role of Dr. Reed began when industry insider Daniel Richtman said in his report that the Marriage Story actor got the offer to play the character, which was echoed by Above the Line’s Jeff Sneider.

“I have heard that Driver does have the offer. But this is what we talked about, I think it was 5 months ago, he was the very first name that we, or potentially anybody seriously anyway, had connected to Fantastic Four,” revealed Sneider.

Driver is known for his role as Kylo Ren in Star Wars. Given that his future at the intergalactic franchise is also in discussion, the actor could easily take up another job at a different franchise, or he could do both.

Fantastic Four is scheduled for a February 2025 release.
