The storyline of Reborn as a Vending Machine, Now I Wander the Dungeon is a very peculiar one.
It starts off with an ordinary, nameless man who wanders in front of a vending machine that offers monthly payments to its customers.
This plain man has an appearance similar to that of Campfire Cooking in Another World’s main protagonist, Tsuyoshi Mukoda!
He loves vending machines, regardless if they are new models or weird novelty ones. He doesn’t mind buying anything from them, especially those that he has never seen, as long as he can afford it.
What he likes the most about vending machines is their functional yet beautiful form, which boasts an entire rainbow of appealing products.
Even though he knows that vending machines have obvious buyer traps, he’s still willing to spend money on them. He even likens these vending machines to treasure chests!
But one unfortunate day, our main protagonist dies in his attempt to protect a falling vending machine! Funny, he’s more willing to sacrifice his life than to see a vending machine break into pieces!
Following his death, our main protagonist finds himself in the isekai world, not as a summoned hero but as a reincarnated vending machine situated by the lake. Not only does he can’t move, but he can’t also speak like he used to!
Surprisingly, our protagonist sees the silver lining in his unfortunate situation, for he believes that it was divine mercy to be reincarnated into something that he truly loves!
He also maintains a positive attitude, saying that there’s a lot he can’t do, but there must be something he can only do as a vending machine.
He fully embraces his situation, and there’s nothing more that can make him happy than to understand and control his new abilities as a vending machine!
Being a vending machine has its ups and downs, but our main protagonist, now known as Boxxo, is living life in the isekai world along with Lammis and the rest of his regular customers!
What Are Boxxo’s Abilities as a Vending Machine?
Boxxo is not like any ordinary vending machine in anime. He has a mind of his own, which he uses to swap, produce, and arrange the items he offers to his customers.
He also has emotions, which allow him to relate to and understand the customers' needs and wants.
He also functions properly thanks to a point system! By exchanging points, Boxxo can repair himself, use extra features, use special blessings, and even transform into a multitude of different vending machines.
Above all else, Boxxo has the blessing of Force Field, which allows him to protect himself and his friends from creatures and enemies of all kinds.
Blessings are special powers granted by the gods, which allow Boxxo to choose one special ability without spending any of his points.
The only limitation Boxxo has is that he can only offer products that he has tried in his former life.
He can’t speak human words as well, as he can only communicate with pre-recorded phrases like "Hello", "Too Bad", "Welcome", and "Please Insert Coins".
So, Does Boxxo Become Human?
As of writing, Boxxo is still a vending machine in Reborn as a Vending Machine, Now I Wander the Dungeon.
He has yet to turn into a human, but there’s a chance that he can become one once he figures something out with Hulemy and Lammis.
The goal for now is to make Boxxo speak, and Lammis will stop at nothing in order to understand her good friend better.
