With Avengers: Secret Wars set to become the biggest and most ambitious film yet in the MCU, Marvel Studios is currently on a search to find a director who can pull off the daunting task of helming the movie that will serve as the culmination of the Multiverse Saga.

For the last few weeks, we've been hearing a lot of rumors that directors such as Sam Raimi and Alfonso Cuaron are Marvel Studios' top choices for the job although that hasn't been confirmed yet.

Names such as Ryan Coogler, Nia DaCosta, and Shawn Levy have also been thrown in contention and some fans believe that they have the qualifications to helm such an ambitious crossover event movie.

Now, one of the directors that are allegedly in the running to helm the crossover film has responded to the rumor.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight Canada, Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy was asked about the rumors surrounding his potential involvement in Avengers: Secret Wars.

While he acknowledged that he was aware of the rumor, he declined to give a direct answer.

"I read that rumor and that’s all I’m gonna say," Levy said with a grin.

Prior to the interview, insider @CanWeGetToast suggested on X that Levy could be in the running to direct Avengers: Secret Wars due to his experience in handling an ensemble cast like in Deadpool 3 and Stranger Things.

Given Levy's track record as a filmmaker and the fact that Deadpool 3 itself deals with a multiverse and multiple characters, he is certainly qualified to direct an ambitious film like Secret Wars and he is familiar with the studio system which is an advantage for this kind of project.

There are also rumors that Jackman's Wolverine will have a bigger role in the film and it helps a lot that Levy already has experience working with him so that is also another advantage for him when he gets hired on the project.

Depending on what the final results of the upcoming film will be, it wouldn't be surprising if we'll eventually hear his name when Marvel Studios makes the announcement, and fans could support the idea as well.

Deadpool 3 is currently slated for release in theaters on May 3, 2024 while Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled to arrive on May 7, 2027.
