A lot of MCU fans are looking forward to Deadpool 3 not only because of the return of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and his team-up with Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool, but it will reportedly feature more characters from the Fox Marvel movies in the vein of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Just like the aforementioned MCU film that it is rumored to be similar to, the threequel will also explore the multiverse and it is seemingly going to be a pivotal chapter in the ongoing Multiverse Saga.

So far, the people involved in the project remained mum on the casting rumors that have surfaced regarding the surprises, but director Shawn Levy has teased that some of them are true.

One thing's for sure is that the upcoming film is looking to be a great treat for fans of not just the MCU, but the cinematic legacy of Marvel that predated the current franchise.

In an interview with Total Film magazine (via The Direct), Levy confirmed that Deadpool 3 will be exploring the Fox Marvel movies as part of the story.

Despite being part of the MCU, the director wanted to make sure that they would acknowledge of existence of the Marvel movies from the Fox era, especially with the presence of Jackman and Reynolds.

"Deadpool and Wolverine are iconic Marvel characters; more specifically, iconic Marvel-of-the-Fox-era characters. We’re not going to pretend: 'Oh, we snap our fingers, and suddenly that Fox legacy doesn’t exist, and it shaped a lot of what we now know as the MCU,'" Levy said.

"Fox also shaped Ryan’s career, Hugh’s career and my career. So there’s a lot of history there, and there’s a lot of Marvel history at Fox. And certainly that’s a part of our storytelling."

While we already know that the Fox Marvel movies will factor into Deadpool 3, it is still exciting to hear this confirmation from Levy as it gives us an idea of what we could actually expect in the upcoming film.

The set photos from the filming of the movie also revealed that the giant 20th Century Fox logo is seen in one of the places where Wolverine and Deadpool are having a fight which further shows that it will be acknowledged.

While most of its films are not as beloved as the ones in the MCU, fans still have a soft spot for the Fox Marvel movies since it was their introduction to the superhero genre before it became what it is and it is also nice to see that Marvel Studios will be paying tribute to what has come before them.

Deadpool 3 is currently slated for release in theaters on May 3, 2024.
