During the earlier years of the DCEU, Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam was being fancast to play Green Arrow in the franchise. Unfortunately, it didn't end up becoming a reality and the character also didn't make his jump to the big screen.

Some fans have been wondering whether the actor was considered by Warner Bros. and DC to play the hero on the big screen since a lot of them believe that he would have been great in the role if he gets cast.

Now, the actor has finally set the record straight regarding his fancast and potential involvement in the DC franchise.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Hunnam was asked whether he was offered to play Green Arrow in the DC franchise.

The Rebel Moon star revealed that he was asked to play the beloved DC hero but he declined as he has no interest in a superhero role. He also never discussed the offer with Zack Snyder, who he recently worked with on the Netflix movie.

"I never talked to Zack about it. Honestly, I don't remember who. It was some people in suits, brought the idea to me and thought it would be terribly exciting for me to play Green Arrow and I did not share their enthusiasm," he said.

"I don't know who Green Arrow is so I don't want to offend anyone. I looked at one picture and I was like, 'I'm not sure green's my color and I'm pretty sure spandex isn't my material.' Beyond that, I was like, one image, 'Thanks, not interested.'"

This probably explains why Hunnam's fancast as Green Arrow didn't turn into reality, which could be disappointing for some fans who wanted to see him play the role in the DCEU.

Knowing Hunnam's talent as an action star, he would have been great in the role if he did end up getting cast to play the hero and most fans would have also supported his casting.

However, as he explained, he has no interest in the role and it is likely that we will never see him play the character in the DCU reboot as well if Gunn approaches him.
