Charlie Cox Calls Keeping Matt Murdock's Secret Spider-Man-No Way Home Appearance A 'Nightmare'

Besides the appearances of the characters from the past films in the franchise, Spider-Man: No Way Home also featured the much-awaited return of Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock after the cancellation of the Netflix series a few years ago. While he only appeared in one scene, a lot of fans were still delighted by it as it indicates that the character is officially part of the MCU canon and is expected to be a major presence in the franchise moving forward.

Prior to the film's release, there have been rumors that the character will be making an appearance in the film although Cox denied it in several interviews since they are keeping it a secret. However, the entire experience of keeping it a secret to the public was a nightmare for the actor according to his recent interview with Supanova Comic-Con and Gaming.

"It was a nightmare," Cox said with a laugh while also revealing that he hasn't spoken much about his return since the film came out. "I don’t think I’ve done any interviews, I still don’t know what the rules are. Obviously, it’s now known that I’m in Spider-Man. So, yeah. But more than that, I don’t know, and the little I do know, I’m obviously not going to say. But the only thing I would say is that for a long time I was asked these questions and I genuinely had not heard anything."

While Cox is playing coy about his character's potential appearance in future MCU projects, he did say that he is very much looking forward to playing him in more years to come. "I mean look, I feel so lucky to have been cast in that role and it is the gift that keeps on giving," he stressed. "I loved every single minute of making the show. And so, to be asked to come back and to be involved in any capacity is absolutely thrilling to me. And I hope, I don’t want to sound greedy, but I hope I get to do loads more. I hope I get to be involved way, way more for many years. I hope it never ends. I hope it gets to the point where people are like, ‘You are too old to be playing this part.’"

There have been rumors for the past few months that Matt Murdock will be making an appearance in She-Hulk although there hasn't been any confirmation from Marvel about it yet. There are also rumors that he might be appearing in the Echo series as well as the fourth season of the Daredevil series for Disney+.

It is not surprising that Cox is now playing coy regarding his appearances in future MCU projects since he is obligated to keep it a secret to the public. Given that he made an appearance in No Way Home and Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin showed up in the last episode of Hawkeye, it does indicate that this is just the beginning for the Daredevil characters to have a much larger presence in the MCU. We definitely haven't seen the last of them.
