As often happens with every new chapter, Chainsaw Man is trending once again. This isn’t surprising given that Chainsaw Man Chapter 138 finally revealed the identity of the mystery girl, Fumiko Mifune.
This in itself is already a big reveal, but the rest of the chapter featured an appearance by a returning character that sent fans into a frenzy.
After all, this returning character has huge implications for the Hybrids.

Chainsaw Man Finally Explains Who Fumiko Mifune Is
In Chainsaw Man Chapter 135, Yoshida introduced a classmate whom he claims is interested in Denji. Soon, this mystery girl comes on to Denji, and as always, Denji falls for it.
The previous chapter saw the two go on a karaoke date, but as the new girl sings a MAXIMUM THE HORMONE song, a bunch of goons arrives, attacking Denji.
After finishing the song, it seemed that this new girl is set to attack Denji next, but that doesn’t turn out to be the case as she reveals herself to be an ally.
Yoshida suddenly appears and finally introduces the girl as Fumiko Mifune, a 22-year-old member of Public Safety’s Devil Hunters. Instead of hunting Denji, her mission is to act as Denji’s bodyguard.
While Denji is disappointed that she only came on to him because of her job, Fumiko says that’s not the case as she mentions that she’s interested in Chainsaw Man.
On its own, this part of the manga is already huge, but what happens next has even bigger implications for the story moving forward.

Fans Believe Reze and the Other Hybrids Are Alive
After Denji and Fumiko properly meet, the scene shifts to Asa Mitaka who is grappling with suddenly becoming popular thanks to her Devil hunting actions.
While she claims to not enjoy the limelight, her smile after seeing herself on TV betrays her true feelings.
Finally, the chapter shifts back to Denji who is shown talking to yet another mysterious character.
This new guy reveals himself to be Sword Man, another Devil Hybrid (though not to be confused with Katana Man).
With Sword Man making a surprise return, lots of fans got excited about the possibility of the other Hybrids still being alive.
After all, this could mean that Reze is still alive and can potentially return in Part 2.
We’ll have to wait and see if that’s indeed the case. Though, at least, the wait won’t be long as Chainsaw Man Chapter 139 will be released next week.
