It's official: Warrior Season 3 is coming in June and Andrew Koji is hyping up Ah Sahm's return as the deadly Tong Wars continue this year.
In Warrior, Andrew Koji plays Ah Sahm, a martial arts prodigy who emigrates from China in search of his sister but ends up in the middle of Chinatown's Tong Wars in the late 1870s. He's a fictional character created by the late Bruce Lee and his story continues in the third season.
But what can we expect from Ah Sahm in Warrior Season 3? Koji confirmed with Deadline that his character has grown so much since he first arrived in San Francisco.
“Since coming off the boat and entering the world of San Francisco, Chinatown, Ah Sahm has been a great fighter, but not a true martial artist or Warrior,” he said. Koji then added that in a sense, Ah Sahm is a lot like Bruce Lee in his early days.
“He’s like an early draft version of the icon of Bruce Lee— always too rough around the edges and immature to become the man he should be for the people that need him,” he said.
“This part of the story sees him step further into his true self,” Koji continued.
The Bullet Train star confirmed that his character will be facing a major dilemma in the third season.
“A huge choice and a decision that is thrust upon him— that has been coming to him for a long time and an important reason that shows him the way,” Koji said.
It's certainly a promising update and we're loving the idea that Ah Sahm might finally be ready to make a huge life-changing decision. With that in mind, we can't wait for the new episodes of Warrior this June.
Warrior Season 3 will also star Dianne Doan, Olivia Cheng, Jason Tobin, Kieran Bew, Dean Jagger, Tom Weston-Jones, Hoon Lee, Perry Yung, Langley Kirkwood, Miranda Raison, Chen Tang, Chelsea Muirhead, Mark Dacascos and Joe Taslim. The series will premiere on Max on June 29, 2023.
