Blue Beetle is DC’s first Latino-led superhero film. The movie stars Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle. So, who are the rest of the cast of Blue Beetle and who do they play?

In Blue Beetle, Jaime Reyes unexpectedly gains possession of the Scarab, an ancient relic that chooses him to become its host. This leads him to become the superhero Blue Beetle.

Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle

In the movie, Jaime Reyes is a teenager who recently graduated from college. He gains possession of an ancient relic – the Scarab, that chooses him to become its next host.

This grants Jaime an “incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers” which leads him to become the superhero Blue Beetle.

In DC Comics, Jaime Reyes is the third Blue Beetle, and he’s also a member of the Teen Titans. In the DC Universe (DCU), DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn revealed that Blue Beetle is the “first DCU character.”

Xolo Maridueña stars as the bug-themed superhero Blue Beetle and his alter ego, Jaime Reyes. He is known for his role as Miguel Diaz in the Netflix series Cobra Kai.

Susan Sarandon as Victoria Kord

Susan Sarandon joins the Blue Beetle cast as Victoria Kord, the main villain of the movie. Victoria is the CEO of Kord Industries, and she wants to get the Scarab from Jaime.

Just like in DC Comics, Victoria is the sister of Ted Kord, the second Blue Beetle. Talking about her character, Sarandon said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:

"She's a woman who is very smart and was dedicated to the family business, and then the father gives it to the son, which is a huge shock. On top of that, the son is very irresponsible and basically destroys the fortune that has been built, and then just disappears, leaving her to put the business to sleep. Then she builds it back, but with great resentment because she's been passed over."

Sarandon has starred in numerous projects, including Thelma & Louise, Little Women (1984), The Client, Atlantic City, Lorenzo's Oil, and Dead Man Walking. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Dead Man Walking.

Bruna Marquezine as Jenny Kord

Jenny Kord is the daughter of Ted Kord and Jaime’s love interest. It is her goal to preserve her father's legacy. She does so by stopping her Aunt Vicky from turning Kord Industries into a weapons manufacturing company.

Jenny gives Jaime the Scarab hidden in a Big Belly Burger box, with specific instructions to guard it with his life but not open it. Later on, she provides information about the Scarab to Jaime and the Reyes family.

Jenny Kord is played by Bruna Marquezine, a Brazilian actress who has appeared in Breaking Through, Maldivas, Em Família, and more.

George Lopez as Uncle Rudy Reyes

Rudy Reyes is the uncle of Jaime. He's the fun uncle, but he's also protective of Jaime. He helps Jaime in ways he can and offers advice to him.

"The universe sent you a gift, and you need to figure out what you're gonna do with it," Uncle Rudy tells Jaime in the trailer.

Uncle Rudy Reyes is played by comedian and actor George Lopez. He is known for starring in his sitcom George Lopez, which aired for six seasons from 2002-2007.

Raoul Max Trujillo as Conrad Carapax

Conrad Carapax is a villain who’s also known as Carapax the Indestructible Man. In DC Comics, he was a rival of Dan Garrett (the first Blue Beetle). In the movie, Carapax serves as Victoria’s right-hand man.

Carapax the Indestructible Man is played by Raoul Max Trujillo, who’s known for his roles in Apocalypto, the Sicario films, and Mayans M.C.

Belissa Escobedo as Milagro Reyes

Milagro Reyes is the younger sister of Jaime. In the trailer, we see her giving emotional support to her brother, but she’s also not happy about Jaime bringing a “hamburger” from his trip to Kord Industries.

Milagro Reyes is played by Belissa Escobedo, an actress who starred in Don’t Look Deeper, The Baker and the Beauty, and Hocus Pocus 2.

Adriana Barraza as Nana

Adriana Barraza joins the Blue Beetle cast as Nana, Jaime’s grandmother. Nana is good with weapons, so she is not to be underestimated.

Barraza is known for her role in Babel, for which she received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Damián Alcázar as Alberto Reyes

Alberto Reyes is Jaime’s father. In the movie, he provides emotional support to Jaime. He also does what he can to keep his family safe.

He is played by Damián Alcázar, who’s known for his roles in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and the Netflix series Narcos.

Elpidia Carrillo as Rocio Reyes

Rocio Reyes is Jaime’s mother. She’s played by Elpidia Carillo, an actress who has appeared in numerous Mexican films. She also appeared in HBO’s Euphoria.

Harvey Guillén as Dr. Sanchez

Dr. Sanchez is a scientist who works for Victoria Kord. In the movie, you'll find out that his name isn't really Sanchez. Victoria just chooses to call him that.

Talking about his character, actor Harvey Guillén told Entertainment Weekly:

"The character was complex. You're loyal to the profession and the job that you have, and you're loyal to being a good person, and you have to make a choice. Sometimes we don't make the choices. We're human. And when given a choice, we might make the wrong one."

Guillén is known for his role in What We Do in the Shadows. He also voiced Dick Grayson/Nightwing in the animated series Harley Quinn.

Becky G as the Voice of Khaji-Da

Singer and actress Becky G joins the Blue Beetle cast as the voice of Khaji-Da, an entity that controls the Scarab (an ancient relic of alien biotechnology).

Talking about her role in Blue Beetle, Becky G said in a joint Instagram post with Blue Beetle’s official account:

“I have the honor of playing the voice of Khaji-Da, who is an alien who decides to who she wants to give her superpowers, and when I say I could not be any more proud of what you guys are going to experience when watching this film, I mean that from the bottom of my heart.”

Becky G, or Rebbeca Marie Gomez, is known for her songs “Shower”, “Mamiii”, among others. She also starred in the 2017 film Power Rangers.

Who is the Villain in Blue Beetle? Victoria Kord Explained

The main villain in the Blue Beetle movie is Victoria Kord. In DC Comics, the goal of Victoria is to acquire all Scarabs so that she could study them and make some developments for the betterment of mankind.

In Blue Beetle: Graduation Day #4, Victoria tells Ted (via Comic Book Resources):

"That scarab and all alien technology pose a threat to this planet. That's why I've made it my life's mission to study it, to adapt it to benefit mankind."

In the Blue Beetle movie, Victoria wants to take the Scarab from Jaime for her own interests, like the OMAC (One-Man Army Corps) she's working on.

"The scarab chose you, but it belongs to me,” Victoria tells Jaime in the trailer for Blue Beetle.
