The Black Panther films have become crown jewels in the MCU for the past few years. Not only because they were acclaimed, but there's also a lot of interest in the nation of Wakanda due to its unique world-building that we don't usually see in comic book movies.

We know that Marvel Studios and Ryan Coogler are planning to do more spinoffs that will expand the world of Wakanda which has a lot of potential since there are many interesting characters and rich history that they could explore.

So far, the details regarding their plans for the upcoming Wakanda-centric projects remain scarce, but fans are looking forward to hearing more about it.

Now, we finally have the details on one of the Black Panther spinoffs that are in the works.

Marvel Studios Unveils Eyes of Wakanda as Part of Animated Slate

During the recently held special screening event of the second season of What If...?, Marvel Studios announced a new Black Panther animated series titled Eyes of Wakanda that is part of the Marvel Animation slate in 2024.

The premise of the animated series reads: "Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts. This is their story."

There are no details yet regarding the cast members and key creatives that are involved in the project or its target release window next year.

In addition, Marvel Studios also announced that the long-gestated Spider-Man: Freshman Year animated series is now going to be titled Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

This is exciting news for Black Panther fans since this is an opportunity for them to explore more of Wakanda and its rich history which has been hinted at in the films. It's interesting to see how globe-throttling the story will be and whether we will see some familiar characters.

Considering that it's an animated project, they also have a lot of opportunity in expanding the scope and possibilities in its storytelling and it opens up a lot of multitudes on how they are going to explore the nation's rich story in this format.

The second season of What If...? will premiere on Disney+ this December 22.
