X-Men ’97 has become a big hit for Disney+, and many Marvel fans are loving it. As only one new episode is released weekly, fans may be itching to watch more Marvel shows. So, here are the best animated Marvel series that you should watch if you’re hooked on X-Men ’97.
While Marvel has produced a lot of great animated shows over the years, these six titles should make for complementary viewing with the latest series.
X-Men: The Animated Series
When you ask Marvel fans which animated series in the franchise is the best, chances are that X-Men: The Animated Series will be mentioned.
It’s not just out of nostalgia though. The 90s X-Men cartoon still holds up today as it features a gripping story with lots of memorable moments. It has even become a big source of memes.
Moreover, the new X-Men ’97 series is a direct sequel to this show, making it well worth watching for newer viewers on Disney+.
Wolverine and the X-Men
If that’s not enough X-Men for you, there’s Wolverine and the X-Men, an animated series that was released in 2009.
What makes this show memorable is that it follows Wolverine as he attempts to reform the X-Men and become its leader following the disappearance of Jean Grey and Charles Xavier.
Wolverine has long been one of the X-Men’s most popular characters, but he has never really been suited for a leadership role like Jean Grey or Professor X. Thus, this series explores an interesting dynamic for Logan.

The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes
The mutants have inspired lots of great animated shows, but that’s not to say they’re the only big Marvel team with a good series. After all, there’s The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Released in 2010 before the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first Avengers movie, this animated series features Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Ant-Man, the Wasp, Black Panther, Hawkeye, and the Hulk team up.
Back when it aired, the series got rave reviews for being a fresh take on the Avengers while being true to the spirit of the comics. Even a decade on, the show still holds up well.
Guardians of the Galaxy
Not to be outdone, the Guardians of the Galaxy also got their own animated series back in 2015 on Disney XD. While it’s not part of the MCU, this series definitely captured what made the Guardians so loveable.
A big part of this can be attributed to its cast. Sure, the series doesn’t flesh out the characters as much as James Gunn’s trilogy is, but fans of the Guardians will no doubt be entertained by Star-Lord and the rest of the team’s antics.

The Spectacular Spider-Man
Big team-ups are always great to watch, but that doesn’t mean Marvel only has good animated shows for its biggest teams. This is proven by the fact that Spider-Man has gotten plenty of great shows over the years.
One of the best is no doubt The Spectacular Spider-Man. While the series doesn’t do much to change the Spider-Man formula, it executes everything well as it perfectly balances Peter Parker’s life as a high schooler and as the friendly neighborhood superhero.
What’s more, the series is a must-see for its unique art style. It may take some time to get used to, but its visuals are memorable.

What If...?
Finally, there’s What If…?, the only series on this list that takes place in the MCU, or at least based on the MCU’s take on the iconic Marvel heroes.
This is unique among most Marvel shows as it’s an episodic series that explores alternate timelines such as if Peggy Carter became Captain America or if T’Challa became Star-Lord.
It may not have an overarching story, but each episode features some interesting and memorable scenarios that make the series a must-watch for any and every Marvel fan.
