Without a doubt, the upcoming Barbie movie is one of the most anticipated films of this year. And since the movie won't be available for less than a month, the hype for all things related to Barbie is so infectious!
After watching the official trailers of Greta Gerwig's Barbie movie, we can't help but ask what car does Barbie drive in the movie? And is it really available in a pink hue? Here's what we know.
What Car Does Barbie Drive in the Movie?
We first took notice of Barbie's car in the movie's trailer. The trailer shows Barbie (played by Margot Robbie) driving around bright Barbie Land in a trademarked pink Chevrolet Corvette.
Ever since the trailer came out, searches for Barbie's signature vehicle more than doubled. Not to mention, listings for a similar vehicle have also increased since the past month.
But if you're wondering if this particular car actually comes in this trademark color, the answer is no. The car that Barbie drives in the film is actually a modified C1 Corvette.
The vehicle has been finished in Barbie's signature neon pink color. It also features a white and chrome bodywork and a light pink leather interior.
It's also worth noting that the car used in the movie was given an extra row of seating. Meanwhile, the original C1 Corvette is only a two-seater car.
Is This the Same Car in the Toys Manufactured by Mattel?
But is this same vehicle the one sold by Mattel? Although Barbie has been known for driving a Corvette, it is not the only vehicle she drives.
In fact, Barbie has had a lot of cars over the 63 years that the doll has been sold. Yes, Barbie is old (in human years, that is).
When Mattel first released the doll with her own car in 1962, the ty manufacturer used an Austin-Healey. This was later switched to a Corvette when Mattel released a Malibu Barbie convertible in the 1970s.
The reason for the switch was due to an agreement that Mattel made with Chevrolet. Both brands envisioned the iconic American doll to drive an American-made vehicle too. This also became the vehicle that Barbie was most associated with.
But other than the Corvette, Barbie has driven Ferraris and Porsches.
Will We See Barbie’s Other Cars in the Movie?
The trailer doesn't reveal if Barbie's other cars will be seen in the movie. But we do know that Ken will be driving his own vehicle.
Forza shared that Ken (played by Ryan Gosling, we think) drives a 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup. This vehicle is decorated with pastel lightning decals on its satin silver body.
