April 1st saw anime embrace April Fool’s Day with lots of hilarious fake announcements that had some fans fooled. As there were lots of shows that participated, here are the best April Fools’ Day 2024 posts from the anime world.
Oshi no Ko’s Pieyon Manga is All Feathers
Perhaps the funniest April Fools’ Day post from the anime world this year is Oshi no Ko’s Pie no Ko manga.
Yes, this manga stars none other than fan favorite Pieyon. In the description, this supposed new manga will follow the new tag team of Pieyon and Aqua Hoshino.
Alongside the announcement was a manga volume cover for the Pieyon spinoff.
This didn’t exactly fool people, but it’s clear that fans love the idea of a Pieyon manga. The post got over 52k likes in just over a day, making it one of the biggest anime April Fools’ posts of 2024.

The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten Fooled Everyone with Live-Action Announcement
Another unexpected announcement came from The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten. Instead of a manga, a live-action adaptation was announced that will star Manaka Iwami, the VA of Mahiru Shina.
The announcement even came with a special poster featuring Iwami that looks quite convincing. Even Iwami shared it on her X account.
Based on the reactions, many fans were delighted by the news, though they quickly realized that it was a fake reveal given that it was posted on April 1st.
Still, even if it’s not a real project, fans are hoping to see at least a live-action short starring Iwami as Mahiru Shina.

Delicious in Dungeon Puts the Spotlight on Waling Mushroom, the Show’s True Star
Laios and his party have been getting all the attention in Delicious in Dungeon, and the show’s production wants to remedy this.
On April 1st, the show’s official X account shared that there’s an interview with the Walking Mushroom, the real star of the series.
It would’ve been great to find out what the Walking Mushroom thinks about being turned into a meal. Alas, the interview isn’t real as it’s one of the many April Fools’ jokes of the year.

April Fools’ Day 2024 in the Anime World Dominated by Game Announcements
There were some fake manga and live-action announcements, but there’s no doubt that fake games dominated this year’s April Fool’s celebration in the anime world.
For starters, there’s the hilarious otome game visual for Kindergarten Wars, a project that many fans hoped would actually be made.
Meanwhile, My Happy Marriage also did a funny game announcement. Instead of a dating sim like some would expect, the fake reveal was for a pixel art RPG.
As for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, the series shared a detailed visual of a crossover game between TenSura and the Taiko no Tatsujin rhythm game.
It may be fake, but it won’t be surprising to see an actual collab between the two. After all, Taiko no Tatsujin already has lots of anime songs in its lineup.
Finally, there’s the Bleach: The High School Warfare game that features characters like Grimmjow Jaguar.
Aside from a visual, Bleach went the extra mile by making an actual visual novel on the website. Of course, it’s not a proper game, but a surprising amount of effort was put into it.
