A lot of Star Wars fans have been looking forward to the second and final season of Andor following the acclaimed run of its freshman run. The show's next chapter will be closer to the events of Rogue One.

However, the second season's production experienced a major pushback last year as the Hollywood labor strikes led to a temporary shutdown for a few months.

It was also reported that the show won't be able to make it on its planned premiere this year due to the strike-related production shutdown.

Now, despite the delay, fans can look forward to the second season again thanks to a new update from its star.

Speaking with Variety during the red carpet at last night's Primetime Emmy Awards, Diego Luna shared an update on the filming of the second season of Andor.

He revealed that he still has a week left to shoot in the series and reflected on how last year's strikes impacted its production.

"The good thing about Andor is we know it has an ending. It's nice to work knowing there's an ending. You can aim for something. We're getting there. I have a few days to shoot," Luna said.

"I have seven days. Tomorrow, I'm flying back to London and we're finishing this. The first season we shot under very hard circumstances with the pandemic and now the strikes this time. The party's gonna be worth it."

Luna was in attendance at last night's Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony as one of the representatives of Andor, which was nominated in multiple categories including Outstanding Drama Series but lost to Succession.

This is exciting news for fans who have been looking forward to the series since we have a confirmation that production is nowhere near its completion and they might be able to premiere by early next year at the earliest.

The show's second and final season will be set within a couple of years leading up to the events of Rogue One where the titular character infamously met his demise.

The first season of Andor is available to stream on Disney+.
