For decades, the Star Wars franchise has told countless stories within the galaxy that are set in various timelines whether it's in film, TV show, video game, novel, comic book, or audio drama.

Despite the ups and downs in the past several years, most fans remain invested in the stories that the franchise is serving and they have no plans to slow down anytime soon as they remain committed to producing more films and TV shows in the future.

The franchise has also started to embrace the anthology format with the animated shows Tales of the Jedi and Visions where each episode is a self-contained story told by different storytellers.

Now, it looks like they are going to embark on another storytelling format that is inspired by a recent MCU release.

According to scooper Daniel Richtman (via SFF Gazette), Lucasfilm is developing a new Star Wars TV series that is in the style of the MCU animated series What If...?

In case you're not familiar, the series explores different stories from various alternate timelines within the multiverse and reimagines several moments in the MCU.

It is unclear yet whether the series is going to be in animated or live-action format, but it is likely that it will be the former just like the MCU series.

So far, the studio has not commented on the report or confirmed any plans to do the project.

This is an intriguing idea that the franchise can do now since they have told countless stories within the galaxy and there are several iconic moments that they can explore with different scenarios and results that could change our perception of the events.

It might also settle some debates (or criticisms) that fans have on various moments that have happened in the franchise now that they can experiment with different scenarios of the stories that they have told throughout the years.

For now, let's wait and see how this project will unfold (if the report is true) and what kind of stories will they explore in this exciting new endeavor that the franchise will embark on.
