Grand Admiral Thrawn finally made his long-awaited live-action debut on the recent sixth episode of Ahsoka and it's clear from the moment he appeared on his screen that he is still the cunning strategist and tactician that we've known from him in his previous appearances.

There's no doubt that the character's reemergence will have major repercussions in the rest of the season and potentially the other shows that are also set within the "MandoVerse" timeline afterward.

Nevertheless, a lot of fans are happy to see the character return to our screens and it's more special that its voice actor Lars Mikkelsen reprised the role in live-action form and they're now looking forward to seeing what's next on his comeback plan.

In his recent appearance at Dragon Con 2023 (via Collider), Grand Admiral Thrawn creator Timothy Zahn opened up about the character's live-action debut in Ahsoka where he shared his excitement and reaffirmed his approval of Dave Filoni's writing.

"Very excited, especially when it’s under Dave Filoni's tutelage. He’d shown back in Rebels that he understands Thrawn, understands how to write for him, understands how you defeat him. You give him something he can’t control or something he doesn’t know," he said.

"I would always be nervous about whether the writers bringing him in would understand him enough to write properly. Filoni seems to have got it. So, I’m looking forward to see what he is doing. I know a little bit of some of the new characters, some of the new dynamic. It’s going to be interesting to see."

It is great to hear Zahn's excitement and approval of the character's live-action debut and we can safely say now that the fans are on the same boat after the recent sixth episode aired where the character finally reemerged on the screen.

What's more exciting to see now is where the character will head in the next two episodes, especially with the arrival of Ahsoka Tano in Peridea and potentially encountering Sabine Wren and Ezra Bridger again.

One thing's for sure, Thrawn is very much eager on his comeback to the main galaxy and his desire to bring back the Empire again. His threat has not changed at all since his disappearance at the end of Rebels.
