During the fifth episode of Ahsoka, Leia Organa was casually namedropped during a conversation between Hera Syndulla and Carson Teva when they talked about how she was assisting them on their unauthorized mission in Seatos.

While she did not make an appearance in any shape or form, her mention suggested that the beloved original trilogy character is still very active behind the scenes and it certainly made a lot of fans happy to see her being namedropped.

It also posed a question of whether we will see her eventually show up for a cameo in the later episodes which is possible as we've seen in the other Star Wars live-action shows with the young Luke Skywalker.

Now, to the delight of many fans, the penultimate episode delivered a great surprise that saw the return of one of our favorite characters from the original trilogy.

The seventh episode of Ahsoka opened with Hera Syndulla facing the New Republic council as they investigate her unsanctioned mission on planet Seatos where Senator Xiono accused her of doing it out of her personal desire to find Ezra Bridger.

Hera responded by iterating Grand Admiral Thrawn's potential return to their galaxy and expressed her dismay over Xiono's ignorance of the Imperial remnants.

This is where C-3PO (Anthony Daniels back to reprise the role) came into action and showed up in the hall to represent Senator Organa. Mon Mothma welcomed him to join the proceedings.

The beloved droid presented data that showed a transcript of Leia sanctioning Hera's mission. With concrete evidence present in the proceedings, Xiono had no choice but to accept his defeat in the debate and Hera was let go.

Thanks to the appearance of the fan-favorite original trilogy character, Hera won't be court-martialed by the New Republic and her mission on her side continues for the remainder of the season.

It was certainly great to see C-3PO show up for a special cameo appearance in the episode since it gave us some connectivity to the rest of the galaxy and, of course, it was a nice fan service moment that became a highlight for the episode.

It also felt like his appearance was due to the fact that they cannot bring back young Carrie Fisher through CGI (due to ethics/legal reasons or budget issues) and Dave Filoni found a way to include her in the action by having her droid show up instead.

It would be interesting to see if the droid will reappear in the season finale and assist Hera again on behalf of Senator Organa and fans would definitely won't mind seeing another cameo from him.
