Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Ahsoka Episode 4, so read at your own risk!

Ever since the premiere of the first two episodes, Ahsoka fans have been theorizing about the identity behind the mysterious character Marrok, an inquisitor who has been assisting Morgan, Baylan, and Shin Hati in their mission.

One of the popular theories that prevailed prior to the airing of the fourth episode is that The Force Unleashed character Starkiller is behind the mask and it helped that its actor Sam Witwer is credited as part of the "additional voices" team in the episodes.

Another theory that fans kept on bringing up is that Ezra Bridger might actually be behind the mask and it's the reason why he was seemingly in hiding all these years. While it is unlikely, there are some arguments to be made that it could be possible.

Now, in the recent fourth episode, the series finally addressed the identity behind the Marrok and it's something that fans might end up getting disappointed with.

During the first half of the episode, as Ahsoka and Sabine are running through the woods to go to the base where the map is located, they are stopped by Shin and Marrok, who were ordered by Baylan and Morgan to block them from reaching the base.

A duel fight ensued with Sabine going against Shin in their second one-on-one to date while Ahsoka battled Marrok. All of them were using their respective lightsabers (or double-bladed lightsaber for Marrok's case)

Eventually, Ahsoka managed to outwit Marrok and killed him. However, instead of showing us that a human character is behind the mask, he explodes into a cloud of smoke.

In other ways, the theories that fans have been discussing for weeks are all wrong as there is no one behind Marrok and he is likely just a reanimated Nightbrother that Morgan created as part of her army.

This is not the type of reveal that fans were anticipating for the character as there were assumptions that a well-known figure was behind it. Unfortunately, we were all proven to be wrong.

While it might be disappointing for some fans that the identity is all just nothing, it was still fun to theorize as it kept them engaged. It just happens that the character is not as significant as they're making it out to be and arguably the assumptions were based on his cool-looking appearance.

New episodes of Ahsoka premiere every Tuesday night on Disney+.
