The 100 Girlfriends has become a hit in the Fall 23 season. In case there was any doubt about its success, the recent announcement makes things clear. Following the first season’s finale, The 100 Girlfriends anime has been renewed for a Season 2.
This second season confirmation was made via the anime’s official X (formerly Twitter) account. There, a special illustration for the new season was revealed. An official announcement video was also released shortly after.
The 100 Girlfriends Is More Than Just a Fanservice-Filled Harem
Fall 23 was a big season with several big hits. When it comes to the top shows though, it’s fair to say that Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End were the most talked-about anime of the season.
It may not be at the top of the charts, but The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You is no doubt a highlight of the season – surprising given that it’s a harem anime.
Harem shows do have a big audience, but they’re not exactly for everyone. Despite the genre’s trappings, The 100 Girlfriends quickly proved to be more than just a standard fanservice-laden anime.
Of course, there’s a copious amount of fanservice in this anime, but most of it is played up for laughs. In fact, the series is more of a straight-up comedy than a wish-fulfillment harem series.
It still may not be for everyone, but many Fall 23 viewers no doubt enjoyed the series. From the looks of it, the viewers were enough to guarantee that it gets a continuation.

The 100 Girlfriends Season 2 Confirmed in Special Announcement Video
After The 100 Girlfriends Season 1’s 12th and final episode, a special announcement video was shared, confirming that the anime has been renewed for another season.
The video isn’t a trailer though, as it doesn’t feature new clips from the next season. Thus, it’s highly likely that the next season is still early into production.
Alongside the announcement video, fans were also treated to a special illustration featuring the first six girlfriends alongside the main character, Rentarou Aijou.
For now, there’s no word yet on a release date or even a release window for the new season. Chances are that this next season will be released after one year at the earliest.
If it does get released in late 2024 to early 2025, it’s also possibly going to be another 1-cour series, as is the case with most seasonal romance and/or harem anime.
