100 Girlfriends, also known as The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You, is based on the manga of the same written by Rikito Nakamura and illustrated by Yukiko Nozawa.
Rentarou is a die-hard romantic but had faced countless rejections from 100 girls before high school.
However, a visit to a local shrine dedicated to the God of Love changed his fate.
A celestial mix-up guaranteed him not just one special someone but a whopping 100 lovers.
Now, Rentarou must embark on a quest to find and nurture all 100 of his destined loves, maintaining a stable Love Hectagon to avoid any potential disasters.
How Many Girlfriends Are in The 100 Girlfriends Anime?
In Episode 1 of The 100 Girlfriends anime, it is established that Rentarou is blessed to have 100 soulmates in his lifetime.
Furthermore, he finds himself receiving proposals from not one, but two girls: Hakari Hanazono and Karane Inda.
Since he cannot decline a proposal because that would lead to the death of the girl, he chooses to enter into a polyamorous relationship with both Hakari and Karane.
It is difficult to say how many girlfriends are actually there in the first season of the anime, as the series is still ongoing.
But the ending theme gives us a good hint that we will meet at least five out of the 100 girlfriends in the series’ first season.
Hakari, Karane, Nano Eiai, Kusuri Yakuzen, and Shizuka Yoshimoto are likely the first five girlfriends to be shown in the 100 Girlfriends anime.
