Before anything, let's get this out of the way. Even though the zombies in the variety show look convincing, they are paid actors and actresses. So no, South Korea has not been through a zombie plague.

The show promises to be unscripted, though, so we can expect genuine reactions from the contestants.

But even if the show is unscripted, Zombieverse is a constructed reality show. This means that the contestants are likely aware that they are in a reality show, which means they know not to harm the "zombies" in any way.

It would also make a lot of sense since things happen to conveniently be available to them at certain times of the show – like how the first group of survivors happens to chance upon a grocery store with another group inside.

Otherwise, how would the contestants ever find their way to safety?

Since the zombies are actually actors in convincing prosthetics, we can't help but wonder if they actually bite other people in the show. The blood actually looks pretty real, and we're almost convinced that they actually squirt out of one's neck.

But no, the zombie actors don't really bite or attack the other contestants. The stunts in the series are also performed by trained professionals, which explains why they look so real.

As for the gory aspects of the show, these are created by talented people in the industry. In fact, the creatives behind All of Us Are Dead and Kingdom were brought on the show to help with the zombies.

Not only do the zombies look real they were also trained how to move like a zombie.

As of this writing, there are already a lot of source materials for zombies.

For starters, there's the original material, Night of the Living Dead, written by George A. Romero that had slow-moving zombies. This is also where The Walking Dead zombies were based on, thus called Walkers.

And then we have the Sprinters, which are fast-moving zombies seen on movies and TV shows like the remake of Dawn of the Dead (2004), Zombieland, and World War Z.

Finally, we have the contortionist and fast zombies in Korean films and shows like Train to Busan, #Alive, All of Us Are Dead, and Kingdom. To note, the undead in these shows also transform into zombies rather quickly.

So where do the zombies in Zombieverse fit in?

Well, as characteristics show, the zombies in Zombieverse are similar to All of Us Are Dead zombies.

Once a person gets infected, his facial blood vessels become prevalent and his eyes turn white. These zombies also have a heightened sense of hearing but do not have strong vision.

Adding to that is the horrifying action choreography of the zombies, thanks to the training they got from the team behind Kingdom.

Thankfully, this is what the contestants of Zombieverse were able to discover early in the show and use to their advantage.
