Zack Snyder’s Justice League Will Allegedly End His Original DCEU Story

There has been a lot of optimism for the DCEU after the announcement of Zack Snyder's Justice League, and a lot of people think it will lead to the continuation of canceled projects like Ben Affleck's Batman film as well as the other Justice League movies; too bad though, because that's likely not the case.

As explained by The Wrap's Umberto Gonzalez, WB is looking to have Zack Snyder's Justice League "close the loop" when it comes to his original plans for the DCEU. He says:

"This movie is basically one and done. This is to … close the loop, to finish the story. Maybe not the whole story, cause he did have like a three to five-picture plan. But this Snyder-verse, I'll call it, will end with the Snyder Cut. Don't expect any spinoffs for Batman or with Ben Affleck as Batman or any of that."

This is sure to be a bummer for a lot of fans, seeing as they were finally starting to get optimistic about the future of the DCEU. Then again, it's likely that WB might change their minds depending on the reception of the film. Even Suicide Squad director David Ayer is hopeful that his original vision of the film will get published as well. Not to mention, everyone had been saying that the Snyder Cut getting released was impossible, but look where we are now.

If anything, the main DCEU timeline seems to be trudging along despite the bomb that was Justice League. We're still getting films like Aquaman, Shazam!, and Birds of Prey, and though it will be another period piece, Wonder Woman 1987 is still in the same timeline.

For now, we anticipate the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League on HBO Max sometime in 2021.
