Zachary Quinto: J.J. Abrams’ Cast to Return for Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek Movie

While the original Star Trek timeline is still canon, the new movies (kickstarted by J.J. Abrams) happen in what is now called the "Kelvin Timeline." News came out earlier this year that Tarantino was working on a Star Trek movie, and Zachary Quinto (Spock) confirms that the cast of the new Trek is expected to work on that film.

Quinto told Happy Sad Confused (via TrekMovie):

"You know, until deals are done and contracts are signed and schedules are cleared, nothing is set in stone, so anything can happen. My understanding is Quentin had this idea and they were shaping it and forming it and he is off to do his Manson movie. And it would be after that, that we would go maybe do one with him. Which is pretty exciting, pretty cool."

Tarantino is no doubt an eccentric director, and with him taking on a franchise like Trek, some fans were expecting him to go outside of tradition; maybe even focusing on an entirely different crew or timeline. I've honestly grown fond of the new cast, and I'm actually relieved to know that the plan was to have them come back for Tarantino's Trek film.

As for Tarantino's current project, he's working on this film set in the 1950s called Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The synopsis is as follows:

A TV actor and his stunt double embark on an odyssey to make a name for themselves in the film industry during the Charles Manson murders in 1969 Los Angeles.

The film boasts a star-studded cast as well. Besides Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio playing the leads, you also have a cast that includes the likes of Margot Robbie, Emile Hirsch, Dakota Fanning, Al Pacino, Kurt Russell, James Marsden, and a lot more.

No release date has been set for the next Star Trek movie, but it's possible that it will come out a year after the release of Tarantino's next film.
