Zachary Levi has been adamant about his desire to become part of James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DC Universe. While reports claim that the reboot will retain some actors from the DC Extended Universe, the duo has yet to announce their plans.
However, many are under the impression that Levi won't become part of the DCU reboot after Shazam! Fury of the Gods bombed at the box office. There's also concern within the fandom about the actor being "too old" to factor into the reboot.
It was confirmed just recently that Sean Gunn will be playing the villainous Maxwell Lord in the DCU and it looks like Levi isn't all that thrilled.

Speaking with ComicBook, the former MCU actor expressed his desire to continue playing the Earth's Mightiest Mortal in the DCU reboot. "I would love to be able to do more iterations of it. I would love to collaborate with Nathan Fillion's Green Lantern."
He also said that he's proud of both Shazam! films and still praised Fury of the Gods despite its critical and box office failure. "I'm really proud of both films. I really think the second film was, in some respects, better than the first. And the first was really good. I'm really proud of both of them."
Talking about the possibility of joining the DC Universe as a new character, Levi took a dig at Sean Gunn's casting as Maxwell Lord. Levi said: "When you’re the brother of the guy who runs DC, I guess you get to play who you want."

Hopefully, Levi will still be able to land a role in the DCU but if we're being honest, his chances of reprising Shazam in the franchise are getting slimmer by the day.
