While fans are still waiting for a Season 2 announcement, the live-action Ya Boy Kongming! drama just got an update, as the show gave fans their first look at Eiko Tsukimi.

Anime live-action adaptations aren’t new. In Japan, many popular anime often get live-action movies and shows.

Meanwhile, many production companies are trying to make live-action anime as well, such as Netflix’s One Piece series.

The latest anime to get the live-action treatment is Ya Boy Kongming!, the anime that became a huge trend last year thanks to its unique premise, as well as its incredibly catchy opening.

It’s fair to say that the show went viral thanks in large part to its opening song.

After all, the song and the dance became huge trends during the Spring 2022 season.

Of course, the story is also a big reason for the show’s popularity, as it features the famous Chinese military strategist Zhuge Liang Kongming who is reborn in modern Japan.

Because of his wish for his next life to be peaceful, Kongming finds himself not in a war, but in Shibuya.

Thanks to a chance encounter with Eiko, Kongming develops an interest in music, and he soon becomes Eiko’s manager.

Previously, it was announced that Kongming will be played by Osamu Mukai in the live-action drama. The first photos of Mukai as Kongming were also shared.

Now, it was announced by Fuji TV that Moka Kamishiraishi will play the role of Eiko.

Along with the announcement, the first images of Kamishiraishi as Eiko were shared.

Moka Kamishiraishi is a Japanese actress who is best known for voicing Kun Ota in Mamoru Hosoda’s Mirai, as well as Sumie Ayado in Real Girl.

She is also the younger sister of Mone Kamishiraishi (Mitsuha in Your Name).

The Ya Boy Kongming! live-action drama will be released on Fuji TV later this year, though there’s no word yet on a specific release window.
