X-Men Black: One of the Biggest X-Villains is No Longer a Mutant

X-Men Black: Magneto #1 came out this week and it featured a surprising revelation but it does not involve the title character. While Magneto does some cool things and is a majority of the comic's focus, the backup story featuring Apocalypse is what everyone will be talking about. The second part of this backup will be a part of next week's X-Men Black: Mystique #1.

In typical Apocalypse fashion, the classic X-Men villain is once again trying to find a way to be immortal. He might have lived a long time but he can still die so it's easy to see why the canonical first mutant wants to live forever. This has led him to use celestial technology to try and get what he wants but it has backfired in a magnificent way.

While attempting to switch bodies with a human test subject, something goes wrong and the villain's mind and body are seemingly torn apart. Caused by the celestial machine exploding, it has altered his body in a huge way and he is now degenerating, hence the story's title Degeneration.

During a fight with, Apocalypse not only realizes he can bleed but the fact that he needs to start breathing oxygen again. This effectively means that he is a human and can be easily killed by pretty much any mutant or superpowered individual.

Only time will tell if this is a temporary setback for Apocalypse or if this will be related to next month's Uncanny X-Men storyline.

X-Men Black: Magneto #1 is available now.
