A lot of us might have been pronouncing the name Magneto wrong all this time, that's according to X-Men actor Ian McKellen himself, at least, who took to social media to school Marvel fans regarding the proper way of saying the name Erik Lehnsherr's mutant alter ego.
The ever-so-sophisticated and quippy McKellen finally broke his silence and asked his followers on Twitter why we've been pronouncing Magneto "Magneeto" when it should actually be "Mag-neto". He wrote: "While we are at it, why is Magnet-o (controller of ferro-magnetic substances), pronounced Magneeto?" Check out the tweet here:
Speaking of the leader of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, with Marvel Studios finally acquiring the rights of the now-defunct 20th Century Fox, it's only a matter of time before the mutants' arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, with WandaVision just around the corner, is it time to finally explore Wanda Maximoff's true origins and her relationship with Magneto? Of course, we all know how the Scarlet Witch's backstory was heavily altered in Avengers Age of Ultron but it's never too late to right that wrong especially now that the X-Men are back home. Let's see what goes down in the Disney+ series but I gotta say, with all the Multiverse talk going around for the last couple of weeks, it would be a nice treat to see Ian McKellen in his iconic Magneto costume one more time.
That being said, WandaVision is hitting Disney+ later this year.
