Wonder Woman Director Patty Jenkins Hopes There Won't be a Justice League Film in a While

Justice League was a huge bomb for the DCEU, and a lot of people are wondering when the studio will ever do another team-up movie again. According to Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, she doesn't want to see another team-up movie—at least not for a while.

Talking to the Hollywood Reporter, Jenkins talks about the DCEU needing to focus on solo films. She says:

"I find those [team-up] movies to be extremely challenging. I think they're fantastic when they're well done, but taking on all of those characters at the same time and the timeline. I sort of hope that we don't do a Justice League movie for a little while, because I think that each of those characters are really great. I'm super excited to see each of their movies. I want to see Aquaman 2, and I want to see Flash. I don't know. I would never say never, but I think everyone should have a moment to shine right now."

Originally the plan was to have every character introduced in Justice League then spinoff on their own original films, but die to some behind-the-scenes setbacks, we got the bomb that was eventually made. Now it looks like the DCEU is on a whole new track, and a Justice League sequel has been put on the backburner.

For now, DC has been having some great success with their solo movies. Wonder Woman was a huge hit, and Aquaman even more so. We don't have a release date on The Flash yet, but we are meeting a new hero in the form of Shazam! this coming April. Let's hope it delivers.

Patty Jenkins is currently working on Wonder Woman 1984 and the movie is set to come out June 5, 2020.
