Wonder Woman 3 Might Take Place After Aquaman

It will still be more than a year before we get to see Wonder Woman 1984. However, Patty Jenkins already has big plans for yet another sequel. Interestingly, the director confirmed that Wonder Woman 3 will take place at the present.

Jenkins recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about her new series I Am The Night but there were also questions about her upcoming DC Extended Universe flick. The Wonder Woman 1984 director was asked if Diana Prince's new story will take place in the future and Jenkins quickly agreed.

"I'm not set, but I'm not dying to do another period piece…it's definitely one of the things we've talked about. I'm not pining to put it in the past again because then where are you gonna go? You have to go forward. So it's definitely a contemporary story. That's all I can say. And so where we put it and how that gets figured out, I haven't totally nailed down."

This is certainly exciting news considering that the two Wonder Woman films took place in the past. Fans are hoping that Diana will eventually get an adventure that takes place after the events in Aquaman where she could protect the world from current threats.

Although there is little doubt that Gal Gadot will reprise her role in Wonder Woman 3. Unfortunately, Chris Pine has confirmed that Steve Trevor might not be back after Wonder Woman 1984.

"I think Steve's done," Pine had said. "I think Steve's done his bit." Interestingly, this could confirm that Wonder Woman 3 will take place right after Aquaman.

Wonder Woman 1984 will premiere on June 5, 2020.
