Wonder Woman 1984's Robin Wright Returning as Antiope

While Gal Gadot was certainly the shining star of Wonder Woman, Robin Wright had also become a fan favorite for her role as General Antiope. She reprised the role for Justice League last year, and it looks like Wright will be back for the Wonder Woman sequel.

She confirms this with Variety while doing her press rounds for the last season of House of Cards. Though she didn't give us any info on what Antiope's role will be, I'm guessing it will have something to do with some ancient flashback—seeing that Antiope had been alive for hundreds of years before her death in Wonder Woman. With all that time, you can just put her into any ancient story.

Wright did have this to say about the upcoming sequel, however:

"It's going to be an iconic time: a little Wonder Woman in the vortex of this movement. And what Wonder Woman, who was created in the ‘40s, what does she symbolize? Justice and equality and speaking the truth. So to be a part of that enhancement, as Wonder Woman's general, it's so great."

The most obvious choice for Wright's return would probably be that of a flashback, and based on what she said, Diana might be drawing a bit of wisdom from Antiope while she tries to solve whatever conflict is happening in the 80s. Then again, with Hades rumored to be in the mix, I would be interested in seeing Antiope come back from the dead just like Steve Trevor will.
