William Shatner On Patrick Stewart’s Return To The Star Trek Franchise

Yesterday, word came out that Patrick Stewart was making his way back to Star Trek as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in a brand new Star Trek series.

There was so much excitement when the news came out that Stewart would be returning to the franchise. Picard was a well-loved character from Star Trek: The Next Generation, a Star Trek series that ran from 1987 to 1994.

Now, after hearing about Stewart's return, Star Trek legend William Shatner decided to give his friend a warm congratulations on Twitter.

Sharing Stewart's very own announcement on the social media platform, Shatner gave Stewart a warm and loving salute on his return to the franchise.

Seeing Shatner congratulate Stewart on his return to the franchise brings a whole lot of feelings to Star Trek fans. Back in the 60s, Shatner played Captain James T. Kirk of the USS Enterprise in the original Star Trek series and played the role in several films. The actor has previously discussed the possibility of returning to the franchise himself by appearing in an episode of the popular CBS All Access Star Trek series, Discovery, however, there hasn't been any confirmation of his appearance just yet.

The new Star Trek series with Stewart has yet to receive a release date, but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
