It has only been a few days since Netflix released the South Korean sci-fi film, Jung_E, yet fans are already looking forward to a sequel. This is, of course, expected from a movie with a cliffhanger ending. So will there be Jung_E Part 2? Here's what we know so far.
Are They Making a Jung_E Part 2?
Right now, a Jung_E sequel has not yet been announced so there's still a flicker of hope for all who are waiting for the film to be renewed.
Typically, Korean films don't get a sequel. But it's important to note that the director created a sequel for his other hits, Train to Busan and Hellbound, so it's possible that he will come up with one for Jung_E. As for Netflix's history, it usually greenlights a plan for a sequel once the original film was a success.
Jung_E 2 Possible Story
When Jung_E ended, we saw the last AI of Captain Yun escaping from Kronoid so it's a positive end for that storyline. Throughout the film, however, writer/director Yeon Sang Ho gave viewers a glimpse of several potential storylines that can be used in succeeding films. It's exciting to see which direction the writer/director will steer his audience to in a sequel.
Unfortunately, Kang Soo Yeon passed away before the film came out, which means she won't be in the sequel, if ever there is one. Soo Yeon played the role of Yoon Seo Hyun.
If Jung_E gets renewed for a sequel, it's possible that Sang Ho will omit the role. After all, she got shot in the end of Jung_E and was bleeding when Captain Yun left her.
Another potential storyline that Sang Ho could explore is a prequel. He could go into further detail on what prompted the Adrian and Allied Civil War to start in the first place. Or even better, take his viewers to the very start when Earth collapsed.
Possible Jung_E 2 Release Date
The original movie started filming in November 2021 until January 2022. The film was then released a year later on January 20, 2023. Given Netflix's practice of taking two years to create sequels, it's possible that Jung_E 2 could return in early 2025, if it gets renewed in the first place.
