Will The Trailer For Star Wars: Episode IX Drop On New Year's Day?

Star Wars fans might have been disappointed by the obvious lack of trailers or teasers for Star Wars: Episode IX during the Christmas season but some have still been holding out to the hope of seeing new footage of the third and final sequel trilogy installment during the New Year holiday.

Unfortunately, new reports say that fans might have to wait just a little bit longer than that.

According to Express, it's become increasingly unlikely that Lucasfilm might drop the first teaser for Episode IX during New Year's Eve. Word along the street says that while Disney and Lucasfilm already has a teaser ready for release, the trailer drop has been delayed for a "significant" amount of time.

"We know that Disney and Lucasfilm have a teaser trailer ready to go which has been delayed until the first quarter of 2019," industry insiders claim.

That gives the trailer drop a 3-month window – a pretty long wait for an already antsy fanbase. Star Wars fans have been eager to learn about what might come of the fight between the Resistance and the First Order ever since the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The sequel to The Force Awakens left fans with so many questions after it premiered. What would happen to the First Order now that Kylo Ren's (Adam Driver) the Supreme Leader? What's going to happen to the connection between Kylo Ren and Rey (Daisy Ridley)? Will the Resistance be able to rebuild after being cut down so brutally?

It's going to be a long wait till Episode IX makes its way to cinemas.

Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled to premiere on December 26, 2019.
