Will Poulter's Adam Warlock Receives High Praises From Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Director

As Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 introduces a new ‘worse villain’ than Kang, the threequel will also be playing up Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) into the scene.

Franchise director James Gunn detailed in why the 30-year-old actor is perfect for the Warlock role:

“[Will Poulter] brought life and reality to someone who is essentially a child in the body of an adult,” Gunn said in a recent interview with The New York Times.

“And he got yoked… Will is completely easy, listens to everything, and is simultaneously very serious and game for anything.” Gunn added, “He’s down to earth and just plain fun to be around.”

As for whether we’ll be seeing Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock long enough, past Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, that is:

“It kind of hinges on how people respond to the character,” Poulter said in the same interview.

“If the fans don’t like Adam Warlock, obviously I’m going to be pretty gutted.” He also shared, “My family’s opinion means a lot, but it’s not necessarily going to bring me back as the character.”

It is worth noting that Poulter initially had NO idea what he was signing up for in the Marvel movie. In fact, he literally went into auditions blind when he sent in the tape.

“When I first auditioned for Adam and sent in a tape, I really didn’t even know who I was auditioning for. I was auditioning for an untitled character, so that was confusing.” Poulter shared with CBR.com.

It wasn’t until he had eventually been ‘drip-fed’ the information about Adam Warlock, making it a “welcome surprise to find out it was a character that’s been steeped in this comic book history and crosses over with [High Evolutionary].”

So to receive such high praises from the Guardians director himself, Poulter is not far off in being the ‘perfect’ cast for the role, indeed.

Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 premieres on May 5.
