The post-apocalyptic K-Drama, Sweet Home, is one of the shows people are looking forward to returning to on Netflix. Shortly since the show came out in 2020, it has been renewed for a second and third season. And now that the cast and crew have wrapped up filming for seasons 2 and 3, we can expect the release date to be near.

So when exactly is Sweet Home Season 2 coming out? According to reports, we should expect the show to be released on Netflix in December 2023.

On November 1, 2023, Netflix released a date announcement trailer for Sweet Home Season 2. The show will air on December 1, 2023.

The official trailer for Sweet Home Season 2 was released by Netflix on Geeked Week 2023. Unfortunately, Do-hyun doesn't seem to be anywhere in sight.

Following the massive success of The Glory, fans are looking forward to Lee Do-Hyun's next projects. Apart from his role in Song Hye-Kyo's revenge K-Drama, Do-Hyun is famous for his role in Sweet Home as Lee Eun-Hyuk, a medical student. This makes fans wonder if Do-Hyun will be reprising his role in the post-apocalyptic drama.

Unfortunately, there have not been any reports regarding Do-Hyun's involvement in the show. The names of the cast members, both new and returning, to Sweet Home were revealed in an Instagram post a few months ago. Do-Hyun's name was not included in the list.

And this is because it is still unclear whether Eun-Hyuk survives the last scene in the finale. We can recall that Eun-Hyuk got bitten in the end.

But right before he transforms, he gets crushed as the apartment building above him collapses since he helped save the lives of the other tenants, including his sister, Lee Eun-Yoo (played by Go Min-Si).

Do-hyun enlisted in his mandatory military service on August 14, 2023. He has been enlisted in the Korean Air Force military unit where he will serve for 18 to 21 months.

If his character is part of Sweet Home Season 2, it's possible that he has already wrapped up filming his scenes. This also means that he won't be available for the preview and release of the show on December 1, 2023.

It's important to note that his character was not teased in the official trailer.

While we still don't know if Eun-Hyuk survives in Sweet Home Season 2, we have an idea of what happens to him in the source material of the show.

In the original webtoon, Eun-Hyuk becomes a monster that looks like a giant block that covers most of the roof. This form, however, turns into a cocoon; which means Eun-Hyuk doesn't return to his human form, unlike Hyun-Su (played by Song Kang).

In an interview with V.Daum.net, Do-Hyun was asked about whether he will appear in the second season:

"If I were to appear in season two, I wonder if Lee Eun-Hyuk will take off his glasses after his eyesight gets better from becoming a monster. I think it would be good to also appear as a monster that saves people alongside Pyeong Sang Wook. But I'm not sure if I'll appear in season two or not, so I'm afraid I will be disappointed when I don't. I think the decision on my appearance in season two depends on the director, but I definitely want to participate if I am cast for season 2."

Our guess: it's possible that he will turn into the monster depicted in the original source material. But for the sake of his fans, we hope the creators of the show will change the character arc of Eun-Hyuk so Do-Hyun can return to his human form.

We also hope that he has secretly been captured by the military and will make an appearance towards the end of Sweet Home Season 2. If this happens, that means Do-Hyun will be back to reprise his role in Sweet Home Season 3.

Of course, nothing of that sort has been announced, but a fan can dream.

After starring in the hit K-drama, The Glory, alongside Song Hye-Kyo, Do-Hyun's next appearance will be in an upcoming TV series called The Good Bad Mother. He will star as Kang-Ho, a cold prosecutor who was raised by a single mother in a pig farm. After an accident, he returns home and is forced to live with his strict/bad mother again.

The Good Bad Mother stars Ra Mi-Ran and Ahn Eun-Jin. It will make its premiere on JTBC on April 26, 2023. It will also be available to stream on Netflix in select regions.

Is Lee Do-Hyun Joining the Military?

In South Korea, male residents are required to perform compulsory military service between the ages of 18 and 35. Individuals, however, can opt to postpone conscription until they reach 28 years old. Those in the entertainment industry, however, can postpone this until they are 30 years old.

Having been born in 1995 means that Do-Hyun is expected to enlist in the military anytime soon since he is already 27 years old. Following this, there have been reports that the young actor will be enlisting in the military in the first half of 2023. But K-media (via Soompi) reports that he will be wrapping his schedule by March and enlisting. Do-Hyun's agency, Yuehua Entertainment clarifies:

"Nothing has been decided so far. Since it is about mandatory duty, we will immediately inform you once it is decided."

Either way, Do-Hyun doesn't seem to be worried about fulfilling his duty as a citizen of South Korea. He previously told Kbizoom:

"I haven’t. I think it’d be nice to meet my fans before I join the army. I hope the pandemic ends soon. On the other hand, I’m curious about how I will look after serving in the military. I want to grow more and come back. The military doesn’t bother me much. I actually want to go there. I think it will be an opportunity for me to become more mature and change myself. Since I am still working and focusing on what I am given, I have not decided the timing of my enlistment in detail. But I will have to go when the time comes."
