Zenitsu Agatsuma is a demon slayer in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is one of the protagonists and is a traveling companion of Tanjiro Kamado, Inosuke Hashibira, and Nezuko Kamado.
He is the character who has yellow hair with short varying lengths. His hair was originally black but he was struck by lightning and his hair changed colors. He is one of the powerful characters of the series with Hashira-level swordsmanship skills. He also has a heightened sense of hearing which can help him detect danger easily and even hear one’s personality, emotions, and thoughts.
Why Zenitsu is the Most Relatable Character in Demon Slayer
Aside from his amazing skills and eye-catching look, Zenitsu shows the most human expressions in the series which makes him the most relatable character. Some believe that he is an annoying character for screaming whenever there are demons but if we actually put ourselves in his situation, won’t we be petrified by these demons?
He isn’t a perfect character because he experiences low self-esteem, self-doubt, and self-loathing. He also has this desperate approach to women and experienced a lot of rejections, which some people can relate to.
Despite all those negative feelings, another relatable trait that Zenitsu has is that he never gives up. He also has a genuine desire to do what he thinks is right, even if it means getting beaten up by Insoke to protect Nezuko. Take note, this happened when he hadn’t met Nezuko but since he knew that she is important to Tanjiro, Zenitsu did not have any doubt to protecting her.
Some might believe that Zenitsu has the most cartoonish behavior in the series since all the other characters seemed to react differently from him. When compared to them, he would look like a coward, add the fact that he loses consciousness whenever he encounters demons. But these reactions make him human. His biggest obstacle is himself and as we all know, mind over matter is not that easy to do.
Zenitsu might not be as cool as Tanjiro or Inosuke but he represents most of us, the imperfect us who never give up on our goals.
