Sony Pictures just made it clear that the MCU's wondrous Multiverse Saga is not going to stop the Spider-Verse from expanding with Madame Web. That said, we're getting new characters in the newest Spider-Man spinoff, which includes Mary Parker who some of you may already be familiar with. So, who is Mary Parker in Spider-Man's family?

One of the key origin stories in Peter Parker's starting journey is witnessing Uncle Ben's tragic death. Although Spider-Man has been known to be quite close to his family, we have never seen his actual parents' debut on-screen yet.

Madame Web will be the first time we'll be seeing Mary Parker and potentially, Richard Parker, in the Spider-Man Universe. But before we get into the film, who is Mary Parker, exactly?

Mary Parker and Richard Parker are Peter's parents in Marvel Comics. It's no coincidence if you haven't heard of them yet, they're usually side characters who get referenced for dying when Peter was still young.

That said, Mary has a crucial role beyond being Peter's mother. She and Richard are double agents working for S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra. However, once their true identities were discovered, they were killed by the third Red Skull, Albert Malik.

As for Sony's version of their story, particularly in The Amazing Spider-Man, his parents were involved in an undisclosed problem with Oscorp that led to their early deaths.

If Madame Web successfully crafts Mary and Richard's origin story, or perhaps the reason behind their death, then the Marvel Cinematic Universe has another thing coming.

Ahead of the release of Madame Web trailer, Scream Queens and American Horror Story star Emma Roberts was rumored to star in the upcoming Sony film as none other than Mary Parker.

Although we haven't seen our first look at Peter Parker's live-action mother in the trailer yet, this sets a different timeline for when the events of Madame Web occurred. A young Richard and Mary could mean a young Peter Parker in the story, as well.

Considering that the Ultimate Marvel version introduced a connection of Peter Parker's parents to Eddie Brock Sr. and the symbiote partner, Venom, it makes all the more sense to add young Richard and Mary Parker in Madame Web.

It's unlikely that we're getting an MCU Spider-Man cameo in Madame Web, seeing as this is going to set up her origin story first, which has its main villain facing against Ezekiel Sims.

However, since the Web of Life and Spider-Totems are a part of Madame Web's storyline, the Marvel Multiverse may come into play soon, with the possibility of including other Spider-people, as well.

Don't forget that we're also getting a couple more Spider-women in Madame Web, including Sydney Sweeney's Julia Carpenter (the next Madame Web), Isabela Merced's Anya Corazon, and Celeste O'Connor's Mattie Franklin.
