The official synopsis of Candy Cane Lane describes the movie as a "holiday comedy adventure about a man on a mission to win his neighborhood’s annual Christmas home decoration contest and inadvertently makes a deal with a mischievous elf that brings the 12 Days of Christmas to life."

The movie stars Eddie Murphy as Chris Carver, who makes a deal with Pepper (played by Jillian Bell). Unknown to him, Pepper is a mischievious elf who decides to twist Chris' wish.

Instead of helping him win a competition, Pepper casts a spell that brings to life the 12 Days of Christmas. This then starts to wreak havoc throughout the whole town.

It is up to Chris to save Christmas, along with his wife Carol (played by Tracee Ellis Ross) and their three children.

Just when you think you've seen every single holiday movie, Candy Cane Lane puts a twist to a classic Christmas carol.

As mentioned, there is an important cameo in Candy Cane Lane. The cameo is in the form of The Carolers, an a cappella group that was Pepper turned into glass figurines.

The Carolers are just some of the victims of Pepper's spell. Along with them are Pip (played by Nick Offerman) and the other villagers.

Unlike the other characters in town, The Carolers are able to communicate by singing Christmas carols.

So who are The Carolers in Candy Cane Lane? The answer is: the hit a cappella group, Pentatonix. The members of the group include Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Matt Sallee, and Kevin Olusola. In the movie, they play versions of themselves but as glass figurines.

The film's director, Reginald Hudlin, shared his decision to cast Pentatonix in this interview:

“When I read the script and saw reoccurring singing parts, I knew there was only one casting choice: Pentatonix! Working with them was so much fun and to experience their vocal mastery in person was pure joy! People are going to love them in this movie.”
