Which Rebels Episode You Should Watch Before Ahsoka, Dave Filoni Reveals

Ahsoka showrunner Dave Filoni has confirmed that Ahsoka is set to be “longer” than The Mandalorian, another Star Wars show he also worked on.

Seeing as the Star Wars universe continues to expand, this leads new fans to question if there is any particular order to watch the franchise. Well, Filoni just answered that for you.

“I don’t think you would need to watch any [episodes of Rebels],” Filoni said in an interview with Collider, “They’re all available on Disney+, so you can check them out there and that would be great.”

Although the Ahsoka writer continued on to say, “But… for me, if you really were interested in Rebels and if it got people that maybe — aren’t as interested in animation, I would start [with] the episode, Jedi Night.”

Filoni described that the episode would definitely push any viewer to get set for Ahsoka: “Even if you didn’t understand what that was, it would propel you forward.”

“If you just watch Season 4 [of Rebels], you’d be set [for Ahsoka].”

This comes to no surprise, given that Filoni has also previously mentioned how he and Jon Favreau had been working on the franchise to be open to all, without arising the fear of missing out on any series or film.

Sure, there is no question that witnessing the entire franchise from its beginning to end is the traditional way of pursuing any series and films, but Filoni did say how this wouldn’t be important.

“We never want to create a situation where you feel like you have to have seen these things because then you’re missing out.” Filoni told IGN, “You don’t have to have seen [any series before Ahsoka].”

The least Filoni could do was suggest a good start before coming into Ahsoka, for fans to familiarize themselves with the characters, at least.

Ahsoka is set to premiere on Disney+ this August.
