In Japan, Demon Slayer -To the Swordsmith Village- first hit movie theaters on February 3, 2023.
In the United Kingdom, fans have had the opportunity to watch the movie in cinemas from March 1, 2023. In North America, the movie came out beginning on March 3, 2023, onward.
For those who didn't manage to watch it at their local movie theatre, the movie didn't offer very much novelty.
It is essentially a recap of Episodes 10 and 11 of the Entertainment District arc with an extended episode from the upcoming third season, which is covering the Swordsmith Village arc.
Despite that, the fantasy anime movie turned out to be a box-office success.
The recent Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village World Tour Movie debuted at number 1 in Japan, showing that there's still a lot of interest in it despite the limited new content.
Where to Watch Demon Slayer -To the Swordsmith Village- Legally Online
As of writing, Demon Slayer -To the Swordsmith Village- is not available on any of the major anime streaming services or elsewhere online. Demon Slayer Season 3 is fastly progressing, so this might remain the case for now.
The movie might still make it to Crunchyroll at some point, but it won't necessarily be before the highly anticipated Season 3 finishes airing -- if it happens at all.
Is Demon Slayer -To the Swordsmith Village- the Same as Season 3?
Earlier on, there had been some confusion about Demon Slayer -To the Swordsmith Village-'s theatrical release because of its title.
Those who were wondering if Demon Slayer Season 3 is a movie will be happy to know that there is actually an entire season. The movie is largely promotional.
A single movie - especially one that involves previous material too - wouldn't be enough to adapt the entire arc, and we definitely expect Season 3 to have at least 10 episodes.
Will Demon Slayer -To the Swordsmith Village- Be on Crunchyroll?
Demon Slayer Season 3 is airing on Crunchyroll since April 9, and it might also make it to Hulu later.
Therefore, if you didn't manage to watch the movie in a cinema, don't worry. Even if the movie doesn't land on Crunchyroll, its content mostly has, in the form of Season 3's premiere.
The first episode of Demon Slayer Season 3 was one hour long. The premiere wasn't in the exact same format as the movie people watch in cinemas but most key information can be found in the series.
That being said, the movie isn't without merit. It's a great way to get a better understanding of how the Entertainment District and the Swordsmith Village arcs are connected.
