The Spider-Verse keeps expanding and there's no stopping its growth right now. One of the films Sony has lined up for this year is Madame Web.
This is exciting news for Sony fans since this is the first time in a long while that the Spider-Man universe will be adapting a character who was not a villain in the comics. It's no surprise that avid Spider-Man fans are looking forward to this movie release since Madame Web is an interesting character from the comics.
The comic book character is considered a mutant who has telepathy and precognition abilities. What makes her all the more interesting is that she is actually hooked to a support chair with no thanks to her various medical conditions.
So when is Madame Web coming out to theaters? More importantly, will it also be available to stream on Netflix?
Here's what we know about Madame Web.
When Is Madame Web Coming to Netflix?
Principal photography on Madame Web started on July 11, 2022. By January 2023, the cast and crew officially wrapped up filming.
The scenes in the movie were shot in Boston, Massachusetts, and different spots in New York City, such as Grand Central Station and Chinatown.
Initially, Madame Web was set for a theatrical release on July 7, 2023. But Sony moved the film's release date to October 6, 2023.
Unfortunately, the movie's release date was pushed for a third time to February 16, 2024. Hopefully, this will be the final release date of the film.
After the film gets released in theaters, it will be headed straight to Netflix. This is because Sony is one of the remaining studios without its own streaming service.
By doing this, they were able to strike a deal with Netflix in 2021. But the official Netflix release date of Madame Web has not yet been announced.

What Is Madame Web Story About?
Right now, the storyline of Madame Web has not yet been revealed. But it's possible that we'll be getting an origin story of the comic book character.
It's interesting to note that Madame Web is the first female-led superhero movie under Sony's Spider-Verse. The film will likely follow the story of Cassandra Webb, who was born blind and with myasthenia gravis.
The medical condition has trapped Cassandra's body to a support chair as she is very weak. But it is also this condition that allowed her to develop her clairvoyance and psychic abilities.
In the comics, Cassandra is known for helping out other Spider-women, Jessica Drew and Julia Carpenter. It's possible that Julia Carpenter will be part of the film after leaked set photos showed Dakota Johnson wearing the character's classic costume.
Who Stars in Madame Web?
Madame Web is the first female-led superhero movie that comes from Sony's Spider-Verse. The cast of the film includes the following names:

Much like the script, the roles of these actors have not yet been disclosed.
Is There a Trailer for Madame Web?
Since Madame Web is still far from getting released, Sony has not yet shared a trailer for the film. But we can expect more content to become available as the film's release date nears.
