With a hilarious and lovable personality, Wade Wilson easily became a fan-favorite character and his return in Deadpool 3 is certain to happen but the real question here is when and why the movie is taking so long that the arrival of the Merc with a Mouth in the MCU has been long overdue.
When is Deadpool 3 Happening?
As of the time of writing, there is no release date attached to Deadpool 3 yet but what is sure is that the Merc with a Mouth is finally joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as Wade Wilson.
Currently, Deadpool 3 is under production with Shawn Levy as the director and Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick as the screenwriters. Ryan Reynolds is set to reprise his iconic role of Wade Wilson/ Deadpool.

Why is Deadpool 3 Taking So Long?
A lot has happened after the release of Deadpool 2 and one of the major reasons why Deadpool 3 is still under production is because Disney acquired 20th Century Studios which affected the rights of use on the characters of Marvel under the latter.
In an interview with The Playlist, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick explained how the merger of the companies affected the production of Deadpool 3, Reese said, ”Obviously, it’s like, it’s two completely different regimes, right? So, it’s two different bureaucracies. It was Fox, all these different people, and now it’s not those people anymore. It’s these people and these people do things their way.”
Reese added that Marvel’s support helped them work on the project while in transition, “We were used to doing things our way, so there are differences, but I think the great part is that Marvel’s been incredibly supportive. They are gonna let Deadpool be Deadpool, you know?”

Of course, transitioning from one company to another is not as easy as counting. There are a lot of factors that could come into play when two companies merge and with characters like Deadpool, there are copyrights that need to be secured and put into place first before being able to use the characters under a new franchise.
Still, even with Deadpool 3 being long overdue, it is something to look out for especially with how Deadpool would fit in the MCU and who among the current heroes he will be interacting with. It will be interesting to see how he will annoy the heroes because he’s not the Merc with a Mouth for nothing!
