Is Deadpool in The MCU?

Before Disney came along and bought Marvel Entertainment back in 2009, Marvel outsourced its films and gave other studios the film rights to particular characters, this included giving the X-men and Deadpool characters to 20th Century Fox.

However, fans were excited in 2020 when Disney announced its news of acquiring Fox and therefore being able to add the X-Men films to Disney Plus and eventually to The Marvel Cinematic Universe. Naturally, people thought that Deadpool, which is from the same universe as the X-Men, would also be appearing in The MCU. Well, it's great news because it seems we don't need to wait much longer!

In an interview with Collider, Kevin Feige the director of Marvel Studios confirmed that Deadpool will be entering The MCU In Deadpool 3!

"It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan's overseeing a script right now… It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We've got a number of things we've already announced that we now have to make, but it's exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life."

Seeing as Ryan Reynolds currently has his hands full with projects like Welcome To Wrexham, It looks like Deadpool 3 won't start filming until 2022 at the earliest. However, this doesn't mean we won't see Deadpool before then playing a cameo in another film. Although nothing has been confirmed, it could seem extremely plausible that the merc with a mouth could turn up in the end credit sequence of Thor 4: Love and Thunder with his very own thoughts or announcement. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

It will be interesting to see how the character will develop in Deadpool 3. With Feige confirming the continuation of its R Rating, we're sure there will be plenty of crude jokes and silly jabs at the entire MCU, not to mention some hilarious anecdotes about Wolverine and Reynolds portrayal of Green Lantern.

As Deadpool 2016 was the first R-rated Marvel film, the producers at Fox were nervous about how well the film would be received among critics. However, the film ended up being the most successful superhero film from 20th Century Fox, beating all X-Men films. It is still the third highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time (beaten only by Deadpool 2 and Joker). Therefore with the power of Disney behind him now, it's absolutely possible that Deadpool 3 could take that top spot.

However, this does raise another question about where one can watch Deadpool 3 after its release. Due to its Rated R rating and Disney being a family channel, it seems that Disney Plus has refrained from currently adding Deadpool to its list of streamable movies. But who knows, this may change depending on its high demand.
