What is Constellation on Apple TV About?
Constellation centers on Jo, who returns to Earth after surviving a devastating accident in space, only to find that her life is missing its key pieces. Most notably, her internal timeline is jumbled and subtle details about her own daughter seem somehow off.
The series stars the BAFTA-nominated Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and Emmy-nominated Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad) in the leading roles.
Constellation covers a broad range of themes, from the dark history of space exploration to the psychological price the protagonists must pay for shedding light on it.
That said, does this mean Apple TV's Constellation takes place simultaneously in the past and present? Or is it all part of the same timeline, set in the aftermath of Jo's doomed space journey?

When is the Apple TV+ Series Set? Timeline Explained
In the trailer, we follow Jo as she relives her life out in space, interspersed with glimpses of a past life she's trying to recover after the accident.
We do know this is somehow connected to an obscure conspiracy theory and a mysterious device handled by Banks' lab commander, which means part of the story is probably set sometime in the future, beyond 2024.
However, we'll have to wait for the exact timeline of the series before pinning down the year Jo's whole life changed.
An exclusive two-minute clip of Constellation was released before the Apple TV series' premiere day.
The clip built on what the trailer had already hinted at, focusing on how the explosion affected each of the astronauts. You can check out the full video below:
The most that Constellation has revealed so far is that Jo appears to be suffering from PTSD, where she can't tell whether she's living in her present reality or a fictional timeline she doesn't remember existed in the first place.
As the series trailer teased, "People see things up there. And when they get back, they go crazy."
Constellation will be available to stream on Apple TV+ on February 21.
